Details
The lives of the royal family of Russia, Czar Nicholas II, were terminated by Bolshevik guards in 1917 during the final stages of the Russian Revolution. Rumors quickly surfaced, though, that the Czar’s youngest daughter, Anastasia, was alive. These stories were heightened by the appearance of an unidentified young woman in Berlin who bore a striking resemblance to the lost princess.

The mystery surrounding the unknown woman baffled the courts of Germany and captured the American audience with its intrigue. Her story remains unresolved today in the minds of many. Life magazine covered her story in the late 1950s. Later she appeared on Good Morning America and in 1986 was the subject of an NBC mini-series. She died in 1984 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her story remains unresolved today in the minds of many.
